The College Scholarship Program was created to advance college education for underserved Hispanic students in Miami-Dade County. With college tuition and related costs escalating, the financial resources needed to obtain a college education constitute the most serious challenge for these youths.

The Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation established an Endowment to provide these students with the opportunity to attend college and obtain a baccalaureate degree from a public college or university in the State of Florida.

While countless organizations grant a one time cash award for scholarships, our program assists with the cost of tuition and books throughout the students’ years in college and/or university.  During that time, the Scholarship Program Administrator works on a one to one basis with the students, checking their progress and addressing any issue they may have; counseling them in every possible way. This fosters a student’s feeling of support and encouragement, which motivates the student to stay in school and proceed with confidence to college graduation.

Since the inception of the Scholarship Program, the Foundation has awarded over 200 scholarships worth more than $2.0 million.
